As this biographical profile reveals, for a billionaire businessman, Richard Branson comes across as more of a rock star. A creative thinker, who originally wanted to become a journalist, Branson began his entrepreneurial career with a student magazine, as well as selling discounted albums from the trunk of his car.

He launched Virgin Records in 1972, signed the Sex Pistols and Culture Club, two huge acts in the seventies and eighties, but he wasn't willing to stop there; he then extended the Virgin name into CD and DVD retail, mobile and Internet service, trains, planes - and now he's even making plans for space tourism! It seems the sky's definitely not the limit as far as Richard Branson's concerned.
